Born in the mountains of southwest Virginia and forged in the smoke-stained barrooms of Nashville, Kelsey Rae Copeland is a sullen songbird haunted by grief, writing country hymns with one eye on heaven and the other on whatever's crawling up from the floorboards. Her voice — clear, sweet and haunting — carries a high lonesome sound, revival-tent dust, and the long shadow of a Sunday gone wrong.
